COOPERATING IN SUSTAINABLE ENERGY PLANNING

WORKING TOGETHER TO REDUCE GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS BY 2020

COOPERNERGY is a European project, supported by the Intelligent Energy Europe programme, which started on May 2013 and will run for 3 years. Its main purpose is to promote models of collaboration between regional and local authorities to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions. To achieve this, the 8 regions participating in the project will promote joint work among different tiers of government in more effective models of muti-level governance for creating regional and local sustainable energy action plans and joint actions for implementing them appropriately. Ente Vasco de la Energía will offer its experience to the other European regions participating, in its role as a coordination structure for the Mayors' Covenant, in order to create at least 5 new structures of territorial coordination and encourage new local authorities to sign up to the covenant.
